This institution is an equal opportunity provider. Meals will be served in the cafeteria at Derby Middle School, 801 E. Madison, June 4 - July 27, Monday-Friday from 11:00AM-1:00PM. No meal will be provided July 4.

A grant from the Derby Community Foundation was given to also provide free meals for adults who accompanied a child this summer. The average number of meals served at the Summer Meal Program compared to last year has more than doubled and has also far surpassed the anticipated number of adults eating. For this reason, the grant funding for adult meals ran out before the end date of this year’s Summer Meal Program. Starting June 25, any adult accompanying a child who is eating will be able to purchase a meal for $3.60.
(Please note only cash is accepted.)

Jean Garinger, American Family Insurance Agent, has graciously stepped in to continue to provide free adults meals to those in need within our community. Through to the end of the summer meal program on July 27, Garinger has donated 25 free meals a day for adults who are attending with their child. Those 25 free adult meals a day will be also be served with no income requirements, address stipulations or registration.

“I was raised by a single mom who needed to stretch every dollar she earned so I immediately felt compelled to get involved to help other parents who might be in that same position,” Garinger said. “My hope is that the 25 adult meals a day for the rest of the summer will give parents/grandparents and their kids a chance to sit down together for a hot meal and just enjoy each other’s company.”

Garinger added, “At American Family Insurance, we believe your dream is out there. Go get it! We’ll protect it.  That is our motto and one our agency strives to fulfill each day. One of my dreams is to help moms like mine and make their lives a little bit easier.”

Thank you to Jean Garinger and the Derby Community Foundation for supporting our community! For more information, please contact Martha Lawson, Food Service Supervisor, at mlawson@usd260.com. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
